| Rutland Fuel Company:
A Brief History
|
Rutland
Fuel Company is a family owned business that was established in 1925 by
Francis W. Trombetta. Within a few years the Great depression set in, but
under Frank?s guidance Rutland Fuel survived. Fortunately he had his sons,
Anthony, Frank and Marty helping out.
| |
During WW II Marty served as a gunner
aboard a B-17. Upon his return he and young Frank started running the company.
During this period Rutland Fuel established itself as one of Rutland County?s
premiere energy companies.
|
| In
1972 John Sullivan became chief operating officer and full partner with
Frank Trombetta. Within his first six months, the first Middle East Oil
crisis set in. By operating with the simple sensibility of doing right
by our customers, Rutland Fuel survived and grew.
|
Throughout the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s most of the Trombetta and Sullivan children have worked here. Currently John Sullivan’s youngest, Scott, is Rutland Fuel’s chief operating officer. Scott started out as a truck driver in 1994. Today Rutland Fuel continues to grow despite competition from large out-of-state oil conglomerates. The reason is simple: service excellence. These days ‘service’ is a buzzword, thrown around as if it were a new idea. At Rutland Fuel Company we strive to maintain a standard of service that has carried us through a century. It is a level of service that our larger, sprawling competitors just can’t match.
